Weller Pottery Vase, 1920-30 Clematis Hudson Vase Hester Pillsbury

$995.00
The Weller Pottery company produced the Hudson line from the early 1920's up until the mid-1930's. The Hudson line could possible be the most common and still the most collectible of all Weller lines. The forms were used repeatedly and even the artist would duplicate nearly exactly the same work repeatedly. To assemble a strong collection of Hudson, seek out pieces with extensive artist-signed decoration. The most important pieces are known as Scenic Hudson and can be found with exceptional seascapes and landscapes..

This particular Hudson vase was painted by Hester Pillsbury. She was a decorator associated with Roseville as well as Weller Pottery, Pillsbury started working at Weller sometime after 1918, but is believed to have been decorating from as early as 1904.

This vase is a large example standing at 12 inches tall. Beautiful painting of blue Clematis surround the shoulder of the vase. The blue and green beautifully offset against a shaded pink glazed body. Extremely well hand painted. An impressive piece to admire. Perfect decorator piece.

Exceptional vase in that it is undamaged, no chips, no cracks, no scratches to glaze. Very very minor underglaze crazing on this beauty. Looks more pronounced due to the macro lens used for the photography. Any non-perfections are from the firing/manufacturing process including glaze misses and glaze pops.
