Sascha Brastoff Mid Century Modern Gloss Gray Jewel Birds Plate #050

$155.00
Sascha Brastoff made decorative accessories, ceramics, enamels on copper, and plastics of his own design. He headed a factory, Sascha Brastoff of California, Inc., in West Los Angeles, from 1953 until about 1973. He died in 1993. Pieces signed with the signature Sascha Brastoff were his work and are the most expensive. Other pieces marked Sascha B. or with a stamped mark were made by others in his company. Brastoff made hand-painted vases, bowls, ashtrays, and figurines with his trademark overglaze gold trim and flamboyant decorations.

Here we have an outstanding example of a Sascha Brastoff Gloss Gray Jewel Birds Plate #050 that is 11 3/4 inches in diameter. Typical of his style, you see the dots used as accents and most of the decoration is outlined in black. The 5 Jewel Birds fly around the plate without a care in the world. This is a unique piece of wall art and hard to come by. This plate definitely has that mid century modern feel.

Excellent wall art in that it is undamaged, no chips, no cracks, no scratches and no repairs or crazing. Any non-perfections are from the firing/manufacturing process. The white spots are studio light reflections.

All pictures are original and un-edited. Authentic and appropriately marked with Sascha B, and shape number.
