Rookwood Pottery 1882 Limoges Pillow Vase Style Bird on Branch

$485.00
Limoges style pillow vase with pierced openings on either side just below the rim. Painted with a bird perched on a branch on one side and a butterfly on the other. This pillow vase is attributed to Rookwood founder Maria Longworth Nichols, impressed on the bottom in block letters with the date 1882. I feel confident in attributing this piece to her as this is a shape she often used and the decoration is typical of her work. Displays well from all angles. What a wonderful vase! This is a beautiful vase and is waiting for a new home.

There is fine overall crazing and there is a chip to one of the feet. It may appear more pronounced due to the macro lens used for the photography. Any non-perfections are from the firing/manufacturing process. The white spots are studio light reflections. Dimensions are below.

Authentic and appropriately signed on the bottom.

H: 4 1/4", Base: 2 1/4" , Rim: 3 3/8" x 5/8" ID 1250
