Owens Pottery 1896-1907 Utopian Pansy Squat Vase Steele

$195.00
J.B. Owens started his own pottery company in 1891. He built a new plant and started manufacturing pottery in 1896. The Utopian line was a high-glaze brown ware with underglaze slip painting similar to Roseville, Rookwood and Weller. Owens manufactured pottery for only 10 years and won critical acclaim but closed in 1907. The Utopian line is their most recognizable.

This particular Owen Utopian vase is a beautiful Squat bud vase. Displays extremely well. The underglaze slip-painting of a pansy flower is exceptionally well done by Steele (and signed). This vase is unique so now is your chance to own a piece of pottery history. This is a beautiful vase and displays well from all sides.

Exceptional vase in that it has no chips, no cracks, no scratches to glaze. Minor underglaze crazing on this wonderful piece. It may appear more pronounced due to the macro lens used for the photography. Any non-perfections are from the firing/manufacturing process including glaze misses and glaze pops.
