Weller Pottery 1898-1910 Aurelian Roses Vase 504 6 L Knaus
The Weller Aurelian line was developed and produced in 1898 until 1910. It is very similar to the Louwelsa line but the splash of gold, orange, and deep blue streaked glaze sets it apart. The hand painted, ornate decorations vary from hunting scenes to delicate flowers. Aurelian has slightly more value than the Louwelsa. This line is likely to have crazing due to the firing high gloss manufacturing process.
Here we have an outstanding example of a 6 3/4 inch tall Aurelian Vase that is under glazed slip painted by the artist - L Knause. The rose flowers and leaves have outstanding detail. This is a beautiful piece to display and the pictures do not do it justice.
Outstanding piece with no chips, no cracks, no repairs, possible light scratch to body that is undetectable in regular light. As you can see by the pictures, this does have very fine underglaze crazing which is barely detectable when viewing this in person. The white dots are light reflections as well as the white square-shaped reflections. The high gloss makes it difficult to photograph.
Appropriately signed Aurelian Weller with artist moniker K. All images are original and un-edited.
