Roseville Pottery Wincraft Trail Glaze Tuscany Pink Vase #283-8
This vintage Roseville Pottery vase was purchased from the estate auction of Randy Monsen who was an avid collector of Roseville pottery. He wrote two books on the subject that won great critical acclaim. This rare Wincraft vase was just one of several trial glaze pieces that were available that day. Most trail glaze pieces are hand marked on the bottom in crayon, pen or black slip. This vase is numeral hand marked with two rows of numbers: 5P-3-720 and 62-157-H33. The inventory sticker on the bottom is from Mr. Monsen. I did not remove this to preserve the provenance and pottery history. They can be removed by the next owner if they so choose.
This is a beautiful example of a Wincraft vase with a Pinecone motif. Roseville never made any Wincraft pieces in this glaze for production or for sale. This trail glaze is a perfect mottled pink which looks very similar to the Tuscany pink glaze. The needles are offset in a perfect complimentary pale green. The glaze on this one is unusual and unique, and it displays well from all angles. This really is a one of a kind vintage Roseville Pottery vase. This particular piece would be the pinnacle of a collection of either Pine Cone or Wincraft patterns.
This vase would be exceptional even in production glazes because it is undamaged, with no chips, no cracks, and no scratches to glaze. It is in excellent original condition. Any non-perfections are from the firing/manufacturing process. The dimensions are listed below.
H: 8 1/4", Base: 4 1/4" , Rim: 5"
