Rookwood Pottery 1882 Limoges Style Bird on Branch Pillow Vase
Limoges style pillow vase with pierced openings on either side just below the rim. Painted with a bird perched on a branch on one side and a butterfly on the other. This pillow vase is attributed to Rookwood founder Maria Longworth Nichols, impressed on the bottom in block letters with the date 1882. I feel confident in attributing this piece to her as this is a shape she often used and the decoration is typical of her work.
There is fine overall crazing and there is a chip to one of the feet. Any non-perfections are from the firing/manufacturing process.
Authentic Rookwood Pottery. All pictures are original and un-edited.
H: 4 1/4", Base: 2 1/4" , Rim: 3 3/8" x 5/8"
