Leon Applebaum 1970s Peach White Lava Art Glass Bowl
Leon Applebaum has been called "one of the great colorists in the field of glass." His innovative approach explores glass's transparent and reflective qualities. Applebaum's works are in permanent numerous public and private collections. He "enjoy exploring the visual dimensions of massive glass and reflective interiors, using transparent colors so that light passes through and brings out the pure beauty and essence of glass".
In reviewing his current work, this piece appears to fit right in with the Lava series of bowls - although there is not one that looks exactly like the other or like this one. This art glass bowl is truly outstanding and would be a perfect piece to add to any collection. The use of peach and white blend nicely together. The 'lava' bubbles and 'lava' shape of the color design adds a measure of depth that can only be appreciated in person. This bowl is large and measures 7 1/2 inches across, but weighs 8 pounds! A lighted base is included to show off the unique color of this art glass.
Exceptional bowl in that it is undamaged, no chips, no cracks, no scratches. Any non-perfections are from the firing/manufacturing process. All pictures are original and un-edited.
