Muncie Pottery 1928 Gloss Green Lovebirds Footed Console Bowl #434-12 Haley Design
Muncie Pottery started production of art pottery in 1919 as the Muncie Clay Products Company. Muncie Pottery started as a subsidiary of the German-American Clay Company. Muncie Pottery like so many of the other American art pottery companies closed its doors as a victim of the depression in 1939.
Here we have one of the most unique and scarce Muncie Art Pottery pieces ever to be produced. This 12 1/2 inch wide Muncie 'Lovebird' footed console bowl was designed by Reuben Haley, the famed glass designer. The mould is very crisp and the glossy green glaze is outstanding. To our knowledge there are only 2 or 3 pieces to still exist. This is an excellent chance to own an illusive piece of American art pottery that would be cherished by you. The perfect conversation piece. The smallest of rim imperfections and some glaze pooling. The glaze pooling is the main reason why there were not many of these put up for sale.
Exceptional bowl in that it has no cracks, no scratches to glaze, no repairs, no crazing. There is a very , very minor chip of less than 1/8 on the rim that can easily be repaired. Any non-perfections are from the firing/manufacturing process.
Authentic Muncie pottery. The white spots are studio light reflections. All pictures are original and un-edited.
