1926 Nelson McCoy Stoneware Leaves and Berry Hanging Basket
In 1910, the Nelson McCoy Sanitary Stoneware Company was established in Roseville, Ohio. The new pottery specialized in utilitarian stoneware. The early pottery was designed mainly by Walter Bauer, including the Leaves & Berries Pattern which was one of their most prolific. The Nelson McCoy Pottery Company operated for 57 years and sold in 1967.
This Nelson McCoy Stoneware Hanging Basket has a very nice detailed leaf and berry design that surrounds the entire pot. Displays well from all angles. This is a marvelous piece of pottery that deserves a new porch to adorn. What a great piece of pottery history to own!
Exceptional planter in that it is undamaged, no chips, no cracks, no scratches to glaze. Very very minor underglaze crazing on this wonderful planter. It may appear more pronounced due to the macro lens used for the photography. This was used as there is calcium buildup on the inside. Any non-perfections are from the firing/manufacturing process including glaze misses and glaze pops. Dimensions are below.
H: 4 3/4", Base: 5 3/4", Rim: 5"
