Weller Pottery 1930's Blue Panella Footed Bowl by Dorothy Laughead
The Weller Pottery Company produced the Panella line from the mid to late 1930's. Each piece is shaded in green, blue or orange with yellow pansies. This is one of the more desirable late floral lines, perhaps because it differs from the others.
This Panella planter bowl is in a marvelous shaded blue with a hand painted yellow pansy. This was hand painted by Dorothy Laughead as it is artist marked. She later married and became Dorothy England. The bowl has three feet all in exceptional condition. This planter displays well from every angle.
Exceptional bowl in that it is undamaged, no chips, no cracks, no scratches to glaze. I cannot detect any underglaze crazing. Any non-perfections are from the firing/manufacturing process including glaze misses and glaze pops. Dimensions are below.
H: 5 3/4", Base: 3" , Rim: 3 1/4"
