1885 Rookwood Sparrow from Grass Blue Limoge Porridge Bowl #87
Rookwood records indicate that only 229 were ever produced and very few have survived. The Limoge line is done on red or ginger colored clay. The Limoge line exhibits a strong Japanese influence with exotic decorations that includes bats, owls, dragons, Asian grasses etc. This bowl still has the gold gilting and can be seen in the photograph. Perfect display plate for your mantel or wall. Exceptional detail to the grass and sparrow wings. What talent!
