Peters and Reed 1920's Marbleized Spill Flared Vase
The Peters & Reed pottery was formally incorporated in 1901. Their pottery was primarily made of red clay from the Zanesville, Ohio area. Peters & Red art pottery is known for their remarkable glazes and glaze treatments of which Marbleized is on the list.
Here we have a fine example of a 10 1/8 inch tall Spill or Flared vase. The Marbelized colors are amazing blend of yellow, green and black over a red clay body. This vase has a high gloss glaze which gives it a wonderful sheen. This is rare to find in any condition.
Wonderful condition with very minor underglaze crazing which is typical of pottery of this age. There are no chips, no cracks, no repairs or restoration. There may be a very light scratch or two on the rim where it rubbed against something. Any non-perfections are from the firing/manufacturing process. The white spots are studio light reflections. All pictures are original and un-edited.
