Muncie Pottery Vase Green Drip Over Lilac Ruba Rombic Ashtray (Shape 312-5) MUNCIE, 1928
Muncie Pottery started production of art pottery in 1919 as the Muncie Clay Products Company. Muncie Pottery started as a subsidiary of the German-American Clay Company. Muncie Pottery like so many of the other American art pottery companies closed its doors as a victim of the depression in 1939.
This Ruba Rombic ashtray was designed by well known Reuben Haley. The muted green drip over lilac purple is a highly collectible glaze and easily recognizable. This is a very well-known glaze and ashtray vase shape. Always sought after and highly collectible. Now is your chance to own your own. This is a perfect example of this vase in this glaze. Sure to please any collector. This is signed MUNCIE which is the decorator mark. In my opinion, this would make a wonderful addition to any Muncie Pottery collection or any pottery collection. Displays well from all angles.
Exceptional vase in that it is undamaged, no chips, no cracks, no scratches to glaze. FREE from crazing. Possible factory grinding chips near base. Any non-perfections are from the firing/manufacturing process. This item was inspected with a Mil-spec UVA (365NM) and UVC (254NM) high intensity ultra-violet light and no evidence of repair or modification was detected. The white spots are studio light reflections.
Authentic and appropriately signed Muncie.
