Muncie Pottery Spanish Line
The Spanish Line of the Muncie Pottery Company
In 1927, Reuben Haley created designs for both Muncie Pottery and Consolidated Glass recalling early Spanish tableware. The Consolidated Glass pieces were known as Catalonian, and the Muncie Pottery ceramic pieces were designated as the Spanish Line.
There are only 6 known shapes produced by Muncie Pottery in the Spanish Line. They are shape 273 (Four-Loop Vase), shape 275 (Tall Aorta), shape 276 (Console Bowl), shape 277 (Candle Holders), shape 278 (Low Aorta) and shape 279 (Spanish Handkerchief). There is no known form for shape 274.
These pieces come in a wide variety of glazes, including both Matte and Bright, in both single and in multiple colors.
All of the Spanish line pieces are difficult for collectors to locate, and they are rarely found in estate sales, auctions, or antique stores.
