Muncie Pottery Green Drip Over Pumpkin Vase with Handles (Shape 192-9), 1930's 2A
Muncie Pottery started production of art pottery in 1919 as the Muncie Clay Products Company. Muncie Pottery started as a subsidiary of the German-American Clay Company. Muncie Pottery like so many of the other American art pottery companies closed its doors as a victim of the depression in 1939. The muted green drip over pumpkin is a highly collectible glaze. This is a very well-known glaze and vase shape.
This is a perfect example of this vase in this glaze. Sure to please any collector. This is impressed MUNCIE on the bottom along with 2A which are the decorator marks. In my opinion, this would make a wonderful addition to any Muncie Pottery collection or any pottery collection.
Exceptional vase in that it is undamaged, no chips, no cracks, no scratches to glaze. Any non-perfections are from the firing/manufacturing process. This item was inspected with a Mil-spec UVA (365NM) and UVC (254NM) high intensity ultra-violet light and no evidence of repair or modification was detected. The white spots are studio light reflections. Dimensions are below.
