Muncie Pottery 1929 Blue Peachskin Ribbed Corner Vase #446-8

Muncie Pottery started production of art pottery in 1919 as the Muncie Clay Products Company. Muncie Pottery started as a subsidiary of the German-American Clay Company. Muncie Pottery like so many of the other American art pottery companies closed its doors as a victim of the depression in 1939.

This is a beautiful Blue Peachskin glaze Muncie vase that stands 7 1/4 inch tall. This vase is ribbed and believed to be hand thrown on the jig instead of being formed in a mold. The rim is pulled into 4 corners adding additional dimension to the look and feel of the vase. The peachskin glaze is a highly collectible glaze and easily recognizable. This high gloss glaze is a perfect blending of blue, rust, orange and yellow. Wonderful arts and crafts example.

Wonderful vase in that it has no chips, no cracks, no scratches to glaze. Very minimal crazing. Any non-perfections are from the firing/manufacturing process. No evidence of repair or modification was detected. The white spots are studio light reflections.

Authentic Muncie Pottery. Marked with decorator mark 3A .
