Muncie Pottery 1929 Black Peachskin Ribbed Bowl #172
Muncie Pottery started production of art pottery in 1919 as the Muncie Clay Products Company. Muncie Pottery started as a subsidiary of the German-American Clay Company. Muncie Pottery like so many of the other American art pottery companies closed its doors as a victim of the depression in 1939.
This is a beautiful Black Peachskin glaze Muncie Ribbed Bowl that is 6 1/8 inches wide. The peachskin glaze is a highly collectible glaze and easily recognizable. This high gloss glaze is a perfect blending of black, rust, brown, orange and yellow. Wonderful arts and crafts example.
Exceptional bowl in that it has no chips, no cracks, no scratches to glaze. Very minimal crazing. Any non-perfections are from the firing/manufacturing process. No evidence of repair or modification was detected. The white spots are studio light reflections.
Authentic Muncie Pottery. Marked with decorator mark MUNCIE 172 .
