Muncie Pottery 1920's Blue Peachskin Spanish Line Candle Holders #277-4 Haley
Muncie Pottery started production of art pottery in 1919 as the Muncie Clay Products Company. Muncie Pottery started as a subsidiary of the German-American Clay Company. Muncie Pottery like so many of the other American art pottery companies closed its doors as a victim of the depression in 1939.
This 2 1/2 inch tall Muncie pair of candle holders are glazed in a blue peachskin and are a fine example of the Spanish Line that was designed by Reuben Haley. This glaze combination is difficult to find. This item was produced in a variety of glazes but this example is by far the most appealing!
Exceptional candle holder pair in that they are undamaged, no chips, no cracks, no scratches to glaze, no repairs and very minor crazing. Any non-perfections are from the firing/manufacturing process. The white spots are studio light reflections.
Authentic Muncie Pottery and appropriately marked with decorator insignia.
