Mountainside Pottery 1929-41 Arts and Crafts Matt Green Small Planters #34
Mountainside Art Pottery of Mountainside, New Jersey. The pottery was started by John Kovacs in 1929 and closed around 1941. Kovacs was an immigrant from Hungary who had been a member of the Rutgers University Ceramics Club while a student. The pottery made Artware vases, figurines and bowls and used both a red and a white clay.
Here we have 2 outstanding 2 1/2 inch tall small planters. Outstanding glaze treatment in a great matt green on a white clay body. An exceptional arts and crafts style planter which is perfect for a small succulent or air plant. Outstanding piece in exceptional original condition.
Exceptional pieces in that they are undamaged, no chips, no cracks, no scratches to glaze, no crazing. Excellent original condition. I cannot detect any repairs or restorations on this piece. Any non-perfections are from the firing/manufacturing process including glaze misses and glaze pops.
Authentic Mountainside Pottery. All images are original and un-edited.
