Grueby Faience Pottery 1900's Green Ovoid Vase
The Grueby Faience Company, founded in 1894, was an American ceramics company that produced distinctive vases and tiles during America's Arts and Crafts Movement.During its first years, Grueby produced glazed architectural terra cotta and faience tiles. Beginning in 1897/98, and focusing primarily on art pottery vases, Grueby introduced matte glazes, including the matte cucumber green that became the company's hallmark.
Here we have an outstanding Grueby Faience Cucumber Green Ovoid Vase. This vase has great rich green color. Displays well from all angles. Mark is obscured by the glaze. Excellent original condition.
Outstanding vase in that it has no chips, no cracks, no scratches to glaze, no repairs. I cannot detect any crazing. Any non-perfections are from the firing/manufacturing process. The white spots are studio light reflections.
