Grace Young
Grace Young was born in Cincinnati Ohio, on October 25,1869. She attended the Cincinnati Art Academy at a very young age, and began decoration at Rookwood Pottery at the age of 17 in 1886. She is credited with being the first artist to begin doing portraits there, and is renowned for her highly detailed portraits of native Americans. Her work is usually found on Standard Glaze pieces but her work can also be found on Cameo as well. Grace went on to become a faculty member of the Cincinnati Art Academy. Grace Young died on August 26, 1947. Collector interest in her pieces is considered to be excellent, especially her native American portraits.
