Elizabeth Wheldon Brain
Elizabeth Wheldon Brain was born in Springfield, Ohio, on November 3, 1870. She studied at the Cincinnati Art Academy, and then returned to Springfield to teach art in the local public schools. "Bessie", as she was often called decorated at Rookwood Pottery for only one year, from the fall of 1898 until the fall of 1899. The majority of her work was in standard glaze, very often depicting trailing arbutus. She died in Massachusetts on March 23, 1960 at the age of 90. Collector interest in her pieces is considered to be below average.
