Elizabeth Nourse

Elizabeth Nourse is considered by many to be the most famous artist from Cincinnati. She graduated from the School of Design of the University of Cincinnati in 1880, and was a member of the Cincinnati Pottery Club. She worked sporadically at Rookwood Pottery from it's founding until 1887 when she moved permanently to Paris, France. Her work can be found on the best glazes of the time including Standard and Iris Glazes. She continued painting throughout the rest of her life achieving great acclaim as an artist. She died in Paris in 1938. Her work is highly prized by collectors.
