Burley Winter Pottery 1920's Purple Gray Vellum Urn Vase #9
Burley Winter Pottery large 2-handled urn vase, #9. This imposing Burley Winter Pottery vase was produced around 1920. It is a wonderful example of the #9 vase with no crazing, no chips, no cracks, and no restoration. It was designed to be used as either a vase or a lamp, but the punchout on the bottom was never drilled maintaining the integrity of the piece as a vase. The rich purple and grey glaze epitomizes the particular arts and crafts style of the company, appearing to be a relic from a lost civilization. This vase is also unmarked, but we feel the attribution is an obvious one to any collector. It is an excellent above-average piece that displays well and will not disappoint.
Exceptional pot in that it is undamaged, no chips, no cracks, no scratches to glaze. FREE from crazing. Any non-perfections are from the firing/manufacturing process. I cannot detect any repairs or modifications to this piece. The white spots are studio light reflections.
