1951 McCoy Arcature Dark Lavender with Red Bird Planter
McCoy Pottery produced several variations of the Arcature vase and this is one of the best. This is a great collectible middle period line sure to please any collector.
Here we have a fine example of a McCoy planter. The rectangle shape of this planter is very pleasing and can fit just about anywhere. The planter design incorporates a wonderful maroon bird on branches nestled within a window. The glaze is just outstanding with dark lavender dripping into a nice cloudy gray. Out of all the colors that were used on the Arcature line, this is the most desirable especially since it has the maroon bird!
Exceptional planter in that it is undamaged, no chips, no cracks, no scratches to glaze. Very very minor underglaze crazing on this wonderful planter. It may appear more pronounced due to the macro lens used for the photography. Any non-perfections are from the firing/manufacturing process. No evidence of repair or modification was detected. The white spots are studio light reflections. Dimensions are below.
